Description
Ryugi Hover Shot – precision for finesse anglers
The Ryugi Hover Shot is an innovative finesse technique that is rapidly gaining popularity in Japan. It imitates a baitfish in panic with deceptive realism and is particularly effective when fishing for predators holding in open water.
Hover Shot Hook – the perfect presentation in mid-water:
The Ryugi Hover Shot Hook was developed specifically for this technique. Combined with a light line, a finesse swimbait and a “strolling” retrieve (hover strolling), the lure can be presented especially naturally. Compared with conventional jig heads, the lure sinks much more slowly – ideal for situations with high fishing pressure where a jig seems too aggressive and forces too fast a retrieve.
A small nail sinker can be added to adjust the fall and action individually. This lets you work the upper part of the water column precisely – slowly, in a controlled way and with a strong attracting effect.
Technical details:
A special worm holder in the middle of the hook secures the lure body firmly. The 90° line tie is positioned so that it sits perfectly above the nose of the soft bait – ideal for stable guidance. The hooks are made of fine wire, are Teflon-coated and, thanks to their smooth surface, penetrate effortlessly – even with minimal pressure.
Perfect for Spine Rig & Mid Strolling:
The Hover Shot Hooks are based on the proven Ryugi Vespa jig heads and are ideal for ultra-light finesse techniques such as mid strolling and the popular spine rig.
With the spine rig a slim minnow soft bait is used – usually with a pintail or V-tail. The classic baitfish shape is important. The hook is not inserted frontally but slightly offset behind the lure’s head. This keeps the lure perfectly horizontal in the water during pauses – like a hovering fry.
A small nail sinker in the lure’s head not only increases weight but also produces a pronounced darting action with wild bursts when twitching. During the sink phases the lure additionally moves in a seductive spiral to the bottom.
Areas of use:
Whether at bridge piers, jetties, near weed beds or right in a shoal of small baitfish – the spine rig in combination with the Ryugi Hover Shot Hooks is a real insider tip for demanding perch fishing. Especially with cautious fish or clear water, this presentation is a real weapon.
